response to empty headed ribbon wearing
and being able to do nothing to comfort
the ones that are left.
not really a poem, just
a flash of unheard protest.....
Our TROOPS
they are not brought home to flags and
support;
due to bush trying to hide the fact that our
soldier's are dying,
they are not treated for post traumatic
stress;
due to bush cutting funding for medical problems.
they are contaminated with uranium and
having babies that are deformed;
due to bush sending them to
an illegal war in the first place.
they are not equipped with proper
protective suits;
due to rumsfeld's mishandling of this
entire war.
they are court marshalled when they try to
speak out against this war;
due to bush's inability to hear
any dissent.
they are sent in with no direction and no
plan, much to the chagrin of the military leaders who know
better, again due to rumsfeld's mishandling of this entire
war.
they are kept in for 3rd terms, despite
the fact that they have already served their time;
due to
bush calling for a stop gap measure.....which should be
illegal
they are real people, stuck in horrible
circumstances; due to a bunch of silverspoon babies that
have no connection to why poor people go into the military
in the first place....
you shouldn't have to risk death just to
try and have a better life.
their families are torn apart when they
are sent home in boxes.
it is not the fantasy heroism that is sold
to the american public
and
if you REALLY supported these troops ---
you would want them to come home.
